Betty Crocker refreshed its baking-aisle packaging on Aug 25, giving the red spoon a bigger stage against brighter color and new cake photography. Then it made the redesign wearable, a set of cake-slice handbags built to match the new boxes. Read it through the pack and the choice is conservative in the smart way. Betty Crocker is a brand people find by muscle memory, and the red spoon is the mark that does that work, so the refresh makes the spoon bigger and cleaner instead of reaching for a new symbol. Brighter color helps separate the flavors at a glance. The cake photography got rebuilt to sell the finished bake, while the wordmark keeps its shape, so a loyal shopper never has to relearn the shelf. The result is a line that looks current without spending down a century of recognition.
On Aug 25, 2026, General Mills rolled out a packaging refresh for Betty Crocker across its cake, brownie, cookie, muffin and bar mixes and its frostings, on shelves nationwide now, with the recipes unchanged. The brand also released The Betty Ate Collection, three limited-edition cake-slice handbags, with a second drop set for Sept 10.
The refresh centers the brand's iconic red spoon and gives it a cleaner, larger role, with brighter color to separate flavors and new food photography, while keeping the wordmark and layout familiar so shoppers still recognize the boxes. The Betty Ate handbags copy the new labels, down to the red spoon as a zipper pull, which turns the packaging into the campaign.
The refreshed mixes and frostings are in baking aisles nationwide now. The Betty Ate handbags are sold on shop.BettyCrocker.com, priced at 89 dollars, with a second drop on Sept 10 at 9 a.m. ET while supplies last.
