  • What’s their experience with CPG packaging categories? A provider primarily serving industrial or engineering clients may not have the color calibration workflows, surface finish options, or category familiarity that CPG marketing work requires.
  • Can they produce a full product line simultaneously? For trade show displays covering multiple SKUs, the ability to run all models in a single production cycle matters both for timeline and color consistency across the set.
  • What are their real turnaround times? Trade show deadlines are fixed. Ask for actual production timelines on comparable projects, not quoted ranges.
  • What do their models look like under trade show and retail lighting conditions? Request physical samples and evaluate them under the same lighting conditions the models will be used in. Photography of their work isn’t sufficient for evaluating color accuracy.

The 3D printed packaging market is growing at a 5.2% CAGR through 2034, driven largely by CPG brands that have recognized pre-production physical models as a commercial advantage, not just a development tool. The provider decision determines how much of that advantage is actually captured.
